Silent Night – A Prayer

Christ
I bite down hard
and the window cracks
spider cracks and shards
laced athwart
the cold blackened echo
of a frost bitten lamp
mine the lonely eyes
mine the witness
in the night to
light fracture and shadow
light fracture and dance
wild in a silence
through the spider cracks
I hunker down
to thwart the chill
and the hands
that would invite me in
